Version 2026-10-12. How Ark Vehicles Limited handles information about you.

Who is responsible

What we collect, and why

We collect only what a job needs, and we say what each thing is for.

When What Why we may hold it
You order a partName, email, telephone, delivery address, vehicle registration, any note you addTo perform our contract with you
You payThe fact and amount of payment, and a payment referenceContract, and our legal duty to keep accounting records
You enquire or we sell you a vehicleContact details, the vehicle, and what was discussedContract, or our legitimate interest in answering you
You agree to marketingThat you agreed, when, and to whatYour consent, which you may withdraw at any time

We never see your card details. Payment happens on Stripe's own page and card numbers do not reach this website or our systems.

Your vehicle registration

We check the registration you give us against DVLA and MOT records so we can confirm a part fits before it ships. A registration identifies a vehicle rather than a person, but when we hold it against your order we treat it as being about you.

Who else sees it

Only where the work needs it, and never for anybody else to market to you:

• Stripe takes the payment and holds the card details we never see.
• Carriers get the delivery name and address so they can deliver.
• DVLA and DVSA are queried for tax and MOT status by registration.
• Our accountant, and HMRC receive what the law requires.

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to anybody for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Records of a sale are kept six years after the end of the financial year they fall in, because company and VAT law requires it. Enquiries that do not lead anywhere are kept for a shorter period.

When you ask us to erase you, we blank the personal details and keep the transaction itself. That is deliberate: we are not allowed to delete an invoice, but we are not required to keep your name attached to it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict or object to what we do with it, or to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your consent — marketing is the only place we do — you can withdraw it at any time, and it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give.

Ask by email or telephone. We answer within one month.

Cookies

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and there are no third-party scripts on it — no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, nothing that reports you to anybody else. Your basket, your shortlist and the delivery details you type at the checkout are kept in your own browser’s storage so they survive a refresh; they never reach us until you place an order, they are deleted from your browser as soon as you do, and clearing your browser data removes them at any time. Nothing about payment is kept — card details are entered on Stripe’s page and never touch this site.

Counting visits

We do count what happens on this site, on our own server, so we can tell which vehicles people are looking at and which adverts are not working. It records the page, the site or campaign you arrived from, and whether the screen was a phone or a computer. Nothing is stored on your device to do it, which is why there is no cookie banner here.

To tell one visitor from another without giving you an identifier, our server turns your IP address and browser into a scrambled code using a key that changes at midnight. Your IP address is never written down, and because the key changes daily nobody — including us — can connect today's code to tomorrow's. It cannot be turned back into you, and it is not linked to your name, your enquiry or your order.

These records are deleted after 90 days. What we keep after that is daily totals — how many views a vehicle had on a given day — with nothing in them that relates to any person. We do this because it is in our legitimate interests to know whether our own adverts are working.

If you are unhappy

Tell us first — our complaints procedure explains how. If you are still unhappy you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You do not have to come to us first, but it is usually quicker.
